How do i fix my engine problem on my ford fiesta popular mk1 ?

I have a ford fiesta popular mk1 1988.

Approximately 7 times out of 10 when I turn the engine off, it does this wierd sort of grumbling noise like the engine has come back on without turning the key, this lasts for a few seconds then the engine turns off.

I can stop this from happening by pressing the accellerator once the engine is off. Any ideas what this could be or how I could solve it.

thanks

yes mine use to do this it is called a anti run on valve.
it is in the side of the carbaretta and it has a wire connected to it it will need replacing.
it just screws out. you can check it by screwing it out then get some one to turn the car off and the anti run on vavle shoud press a small pip forward whick stops the petral if it does not then change it.
