the grill of the Hotpoint BD31 doulble oven will not respond to temperature selection but stays on full. Can you tell me if this is repairable and if so identify the part that is needed to repair.

The grill will only work on full power, so sounds like this is the same problem: energy regulator.

Just repaired mine with the same fault. Had to fit a new Diamond H Controls -Energy Regulator which is situated behind the Grill Control Knob. Cost was around £14 with P & P & VAT from Partmaster.co.uk. Their Product code was HPT6204034 and the Number on the label on the defective Part was 40ER101C1.
Turn off the power and pull the Oven half out of its Kitchen Housing and remove the metal top to the case. Controller is inside the front and just clipped into position. Pull the knob off. Pull off the wire connectors one by one and push them on the new controller to the same connectors. Re-fit is the reverse.
