Strange fault code (6) on Optima 2 Plus?

Hi, I have just been to look at a problem on my 'in laws' Optima2 plus, alarm. It is showing a flashing fault code, number 6. There are 4 zones, all in use and numbered 1 - 4, and a PA.
I have tried the usual reset, reboot (disconnent mains and battery) but with no joy. I have noticed that the backup battery is dying (only giving out 3-4 volts) but I doubt if this is the main problem.
Any advice appreciated, particularly the meaning of the fault code

Afraid I can't think of anything other than what is already mentioned but maybe one of you can help me. I moved home recently and the previous owner left no user guide (only the existing 4 digit code) for the Optima Plus 2 Alarm. Naturally I would like to change it but am unsure of the correct procedure. Any help guys please. Replies to tel@tlangham.freeserve.co.uk would be much appreciated. Terry

the 6 you see is probly a B or b which could indicate a fault on the bell box

I also have a fault code 6 appearing as a tamper code which periodically appears when the optima plus 2 alarm is not set .... the alarm sounds inside only when this fault occurs, would be interested in sharing answers if you receive any....

acorn, thanks for your response. I'm afraid '0' - reset etc hasn't cured the problem but I will replace the battery in a couple of days and then try again.

The battery in that state could def. be giving unexplained faults of one kind or another - needs replacing sooner rarter than later.

Now, display showing '6' - the only way the No 6 shows is by putting the system into Engineering mode & asking the panel to do a Digital Communicator Test by pressing, 6.

Pressing '0' should stop this test.

Then pressing Reset, once or twice (can't remember which) should, as in should, get you back to Day Mode
