Sounds from your description that the machine is initially overfilling, and the overflow is letting water out into the bottom catch tray.
I'd advise to STOP trying to use it until the problem is definately fixed, because there is a possibility the sensor float can stick, and water can flood into the motor ! It happened on my BDW45.1. Back to your problem - the only thing I can think would cause this overfill is a defective or lazy pressure switch that switches off at proper fill level. You could try replacing it. I beleive it is mounted below the cabinet in the bottom catch tray, and has a loop of transparent tubing above it.
