does anyone know whats wrong with this frige freezer as it keeps makeing a loud ticking noise like a grand father clock? it defrosts itself and turns itself off and then turns back on again. recently it decided to turn off completely and we had to throw away all the food in the fridge and freezer as we where not here at the time we only bought it 15 months ago from comet. any ideas what could be causing it??????
I realise this is an old question but I had the same problem. It's a relay sticking on the control unit behind the front panel at the top of the fridge. The part is covered under warranty if your fridge is under 5 years old but you'll have to pay labour if it's over 1 year and you didn't get any extended warranty.

compressor fault ? phon hotpoint as it will have warranty still on it
