Hum on Pushing Start Switch - Dryer Not Running?

I have a Maytag Dryer (Model LDE8424ACE). Recently, the dryer was pulled and pushed back in place with its exhausted pipe twisted. The dryer ran with a cloths load and stopped unfinished. Now, it will not start only hum when the start button is pushed. Do you have a recommended trouble-shooting guide and/or solution?

Thx, Rick

Sounds like you have a bad start winding on the motor. With the exhaust vent blocked it would have had a poor airflow which could raise the temperature in the cabinet and overheat the motor. This in turn could cause a winding to fail especially on an older dryer. You will need to get the motor tested & replaced if it is faulty.
