If you haven't found out by now, you really need to check your oil!

On mine, the same thing happened. Lie under the front of the car (2 wheels on the pavement help). Put your hand up under the bonnet, inside the radiator, find the cable that links the left lock to the right lock, and pull. With a bit of fiddling, you will get it open.

The main problem is stopping this happening again.

The clips that hold the bonnet cable onto the metal locks, are made of plastic. These break, and unfortunately are not made seperately by Renault (would cost about 80p). You have (in theory) to buy the full loock assembly at over £100 each.

Fortunately, there is a cheaper way. You will see on the locks, where the cable attaches, that one side of the plastic clip has broken. Get a very small plastic zip connector, and attach around the broken piece, pulling tight with pliers. Do the same on the other side if needed. Your bonnet should now open normally.

I fixed mine like this 12 months ago, and it has been opened every week since, with no problems.

There is always a way!
