can adding water to a hot engine cause`the block to crack?

2000 ford focus SE was`driven without water for thirty minutes at 80 mph. Car started running hot, driver added water to resivoir and driver heard some crackling noise. Later car started but battery went dead any relation.? White smoke came out the exaust and car sounds less powerful. could it be piston head cracked block or a gasket.

Driven at 80mph for 30 min your engine will be roasted.
White smoke is signs of head gasket away. I think the head will be at minimum warped.
When an engine is rosted to this extent the bonnet should be left open and let cool down naturally dont add water till cooled.
I think battery going dead is unrelated
