I want to know how to unblock my fuel filter for my corsa year 99 reg?

My car keeps losing power slightly when pressing the excellerator and have been told it could well be my fuel filter is blocked. Apparently the fuel filters on corsas of this year are renowned for this problem? Is there something I could do?
