Petrol lawn mower cord stuck?

I have a Briggs and Stratton 500 series 46SD, it was working fine but after stopping and trying to start it again the cord is stuck and won't come out at all. Can I fix it?

yes: take some penetrating oil and spray some into the recoil mechainsm and let set a few minutes it should free up the recoil mechanism and you will be able to restart your mower.
