M reg ford fiesta ghia 1.3 won't start?

I put the key in the ignition and turn it the lights come on but the car will not turn over or start! It is an automatic can you help me?

Auto's have an ihibitor switch to stop the car starting unless it's in N.That would be my first suspect.However testing and adjusting is a pain.would'nt reccommend diy unless you'r confident.Also it may be a faulty starter.Or battery fault.If diy,suggest haynes manual purchase.
