Fix charging circuit on Briggs nd Stratton 28D707?

When fully charged my lawnmower with Briggs and Stratton engine (model 28D707) is fine. However when I try 2nd time, the engine will not start, unless I manually re-charge battery.

I believe the re-charging circuit is therefore not working, but am unable to find a circute diagram to help diagnose where the problem is.

Please can you help.

First off check the wiring - there should be a 2-pole connector coming from the alternator stator under the flywheel. Check that it's connected properly. If OK, check (with a multimeter) that one of the pins connects to the battery +ve. If that's OK, start the engine and measure the DC voltage on the connector. Less than 12V, or AC voltage, means a replacement alternator stator.
