how to get the D92 Epson to start again. REd warning light will not go out?

I have been using using compatible inks for my D92 with status monitor disabled. The printout [draft quality, black ink only] has now deteriorated so I ran the nozzle cleaner utility twice. The red warning light will not now go out. I have tried restarting the computer, and turning off the printer and on again. I am not on a network and the D92 is my only printer. I am running Windows XP Home. I seem unable to turn the status monitor on again. How can I get my printer running again. It is not long since I replaced all 4 cartirdges
