Can a blown tyre cause bearings to fail?

I had a blown rear tyre on the motorway yesterday and after changing the wheel there was a really loud, metallic banging sound as i was driving, i checked the suspension, seems fine and there appears to be no buckling. Any ideas anyone??

Also how easy is it to change a bearing on a vauxhall vectra??

Damage concievable given right conditions.Bearing noise should be audible when turning jacked up wheel by hand.Bearing replacement I would not recommend.for diy unless very compotent.races are very easy to chip/damage during fitting without right tools.Metal is seriously hard and usually siezed in.
