Had the same problem.Fitted a set of ignition coils and plugs but still no change.A garage diagnised the first coil pack, got it fitted with no change.Went to another diagnosis to a different garage and they came up with the second coil, fitted it but still no change.Car was firing on 2 cylinders and had no power.Paid £54 and £47 for both diagnosis.A friend,an Auto Electrician didn't even take 5 minutes to diagnose the faulty ECU without any equipment.Bought a reconditioned self coding ECU from EBay.Fitted that in about 10 minutes and my car has been running smooth since then. The EML switched off as soon as I started the car.Dont try fit in an ECU without changing the coils and plugs as this would blow your new ECU.

Have same fault seems to have appeared after attatching jump leads. Tried alsorts believe it is a common fault and now my washers won't work on front and rear and I can't located the fuse.

disconect battery live terminal leave for 10 15 mins
then reconect, then sit in car put foot to floor on gas pedal then turn on ignition do not start engine just wait for a double beep depends on how many faults are on ecu shouldnt take more than 20,30 secs then take foot of gas turn off ignition and then start engine fault light should reset,if it doesnt reset you may have a map senser prob, and will need to be hooked up to a diagnostic machine
most garages have them these days

You have all been told a load of tosh me thinks! I got this sign and it was the Fuel Filter on our 2.0 hdi peugeot 2005 model 206, and although this was a pain to remove via the Pot ( needs a good set of Large Water Pump Pliers) and when i changed that and then added fresh Diesel to the Pot after a minute the Engine Management Light dissappeared. It could be anything that the Light comes up for, but you will know it is this as the car also goes into safety mode where it will not rev above 2200 or do more than about 62 MPH and once you do the above all the symptons dissappear..

ive got a 307 and had this problem and found theres a filter in the exhaust that gets full of soot and requires regeneration and you can do this by going for a drive for about 40-50 mins at 50 in 3rd or 4th gear to create heat to burn the soot out of the filter and regen the fluid and this should clear the prob
good luck

its only a light..put a sticker over it

Hi Kev, if only it was the pollen filter!!! it's not part of the engine emmisions it only filters the pollen from entering the car's heater air supply, to find the cause of the warning lights will require having the car connected to a diagnostic code reader and finding the fault codes, most good independant garages have the kit to do this as do a lot of tyre & exhaust places
