overheating engine and auto gearbox?

My 1998 Renault Scenic 2L auto radiator fan does not work when it should, i put on the air conditioning and it works. This does help keep the engine cooler but doesnt stop my auto gearbox from really playing up.Its hard to get going from a standing start and its like it has a clutch thats slipping. Has anybody got the answer to this problem, thanks.

Sounds to me like a electrical problem.... thermostat.... needs to be connected to computer around £30 WILL SAVE A LOT OF ££££££££££££ though.

cant comment on the fan problem, but auto boxes have oil coolers sited on/near or part of rads.If it's that bad you'r transmision oil could be fried.check oil quality.should be a nice colour(compare to new fluid)not dark and no burnt smell.if rads hot then cooler wont be able to do its job.
