Can I wash the lifetime filter in my DC04 or could there be another reason why it is not picking up so well lately. I have checked and it is not blocked.

you do need to wash the filter or buy a new one to replace it while you are waiting 48 hours for it to dry go to bobsroswellvacuum.com to purchase new one

Yes, they can be washed, and this improves things. Depends on what you were sucking up last. Plaster dust really messes them up, and does not wash out easily.I have just re-plastered my back bedroom, so the circumstantial evidence is strong. By the way new filters are almost white and smooth, not grey and matted.
