My Candy fridge freezer has started to freeze everything in the fridge even though the setting has stayed the same for the last 2 years (number 3) I defrosted everything in the fridge and turned it down to number 1 but when I woke up this morning everything in the fridge was frozen solid again and there was an electrical burning smell. I have unplugged it now but is this the end of my fridge freezer???

I am pretty damn sure that your thermostat has "burned out". The thermostat clicks in and out over the years to switch the compressor on and off as required. Eventually the contacts burn and can stick together. (compressor constantly running). The burn smell is probably from there if the burning smell was within the fridge.
**** If you do check the thermostat, make sure you are unplugged from the mains.****
