ryobi plt 2543y pull cord wont recoil?

After trying to start the strimmer for a while, the starter cord wont recoil, is there an easy fix for this or do I need to buy a new spring?

Take the broken recoil starter cord compleatly out of the T handel, you might need a small screwdriver to remove a plastic cap to get at it, then try to unknot it to get an idea of the origernal cord thickness, usually measured in MM, places like B&Q, the Range & other craft places sell it, shop arounnd.

You might find that you need to buy a full length of it, about £5.00 or so.
fully remove it all from the recoil spool, taking note of direction and how it wraps round, measure against the 2 removed lenths, in total.
cut a new piece, melt and smooth ends with wet fingers, then its just a case of installing it as it came off & making sure it fully recoiled, check gently before fully re-installing it, then test once its put back together.
Keep the rest as you might find it fits other items.

hi again fixed mine

take it all apart, all you need is a t20 torx screwdriver 100mm should be about a fiver, undo the plate holding in the wheel attached to start cord lift out the wheel then take out the spring and housing, on mine the spring had moved out of its locating position, the spring might be slightly bent but just bend it back with pliers, if spring pops out you can recoil it once you have sorted spring just put it all back together. mine works fine just about 2 inches slack on the start cord but i'll live with that

trying to fix mine at the moment, the problem is the spring which moved out of position and bent and nylon cord(not the pull start) which has snapped
