I usually can fix almost anything, but this problem has me stumped?

I have a 17 year old MTD Riding Mower that runs beautiful for about 10 Minutes and then Quits cold. No starter-Nothing. After a while of checking wiring etc., the starter runs, but no spark. After a few hours, or over night rest it will run again. I replaced the ignition switch, and the solinoid, but still the same problem. Is their a cut out in the 11 H.P. Brigs engin? I am baffeled. Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Thank you so much for your answer. I think checking the magnito is a good sugestion. The wiring isn't worn, nor does it get hot. I guess I will look at the magnito now. Again thanks.

It sounds as If the wires are overheating. Do you notice any extra heat around the wires? Do any of the wires look as if they might have melted a little? Check you magneto if this model has one. With what you are explaining, it sounds as if you lose your electrical connection. After time it gets to the starter, but not the motor itself. Trace your wires and look for any signs of damage. Hope this helps
