How can I release the oil drain plug on Vectra 2001?

I am trying to release the oil drain plug on a Vectra 2001 1.8LS but it seems too tight. I have the correct Torx bit to release it but it is too tight to remove. I've even tried using a bar to provide leverage but I still can't open it. Does it definately open anti-clockwise? and is there anything else I need to do to release it?

Definitely anticlockwise, it is a normal right hand thread. I use a torx bit with a 1/2" drive so that I can use my socket set handle. That way you can use a torque wrench when doing it up again so it isn't overtightened.
