Does anyone have starting problems with their lawnmower? I have a petrol mower that seems to have good compression but will not start could it be the spark lead? I have cleaned the plug and carburettor seems to be working. Any ideas?

Take the spark plug out .replace the ht lead on the plug.Place it on top of the cyclinder head then pull the starter(cord) to see if there is a spark from the points.
(Have you tried a new spark plug?)
