Honda RotoStop adjustment?

I have a Honda HRR216vxa with the rotostop blade control. The problem I have is that it disengages after only minimal travel making it difficult and frustrating to say the least. I have adjusted the cable at the handle end with no results. Any recommendations?

Early X-series Hondas had a lot of problems with the rotostop system- in faxct they were withdrawn from sale and there was a safety recall. This was two seasons ago now, when it was first launched so it would be strange if it were one of those and you didn't receive a recall notice from your issuing dealer. Unless of course you have recently bought an old stock early one from someone that's not in the network.

The lawn mower has less than 4 hours on it..could it be anything else?

The friction plates are worn out. Complete Rotostop clutch would need replacing. Cost is around £125 plus vat.
