You could try the Canon website. www.canon.co.uk
at top of home page select 'Support' below the picture of the female you will see 'consumer Product support site' in red click on that and on the left column click on 'Websubmit' wait for form to appear fill in the form submit it and wait for reply. Be warned with Canon it's dangerous to hold your breath waiting for a reply, but it is another 'string to your help bow'. Get your camera details ready and serial number. You could try a hair dryer on a low setting both heat and speed with camera film area open but be careful wave it over the camera don't hold it in one area it may even on low setting damage the camera if it gets too hot. I've done it with a film camera when caught in heavy rain that stopped working but worked again after the hair dryer trick.
