I have a problem with my 02 ford focus. When it rains, the car smells funny inside. I've serched for damp patches but found none. I have been told that the pollen filter must be on correct otherwise water will seep into the passenger footwell, I've checked this and all is fine. Any help would be most appreciated as it's driving me mad!!

Has it got a sun roof? If yes open the sun roof backward as far as it will go. Check for any water in the recese where it sits. Most cars have a couple of pips at the rear of the recese to drain any water that may get in. If there is water present check the seal on the sun roof and check that the drain pipes (if it has any) are clear. Check the roof lining for water marks and damp patches.
