Unable to get ford galaxy automatic into drive?

I am unable to move my automatic gear stick into drive, when car is ticking over.Gear stick won't release.It's a ford galaxy automatic.Also break lights not working(I think it's related).

Check the brake light fuse. The brake lights need to work for switch by gear seletor to release. We had same problem and just replaced a blown fuse.
