Pilot injector blocked or if oxy safe type the air intake could be fluffed up.

Get a piece of rubber tube.Hold it to the pilot head and blow like hell.You need the pilot to be blue in colour.If it is yellow then the pilot air hole will be linted up with fluff.There will be a small hole at the base of the pilot assbly which will be partially blocked.

It`s not the thermocouple.It`s most likely a semi-choked pilot light.It requires a Corgi Engineer to service it,which should be done every year anyway.

this sounds like this could be your thermo couple in expensive to change but let a gas fitter deal with it
