Remove Briggs Stratton Flywheel?

19.5 h.p. 2 cyl. Briggs Stratton on lawnmower. What's the best way to remove the flywheel?? I have a gear puller on it now, but so far it hasn't moved. Thanks for the help.

I have not used this method on a 2 cyl Briggs but in principal it should be OK.
Assuming retaining nut is loose or removed.
Once you have some tension on puller, using a rubber or wooden mallet, try tapping around the edge of the flywheel (avoiding damage to any fins etc). If there is an area you can tap from underneath try this also. You can rotate the flywheel whilst doing this to ease it all round. This should break it free from the tapper. If it does not work first time try adding a little more tension to puller & repeat.
I hope this solves your problem.

Right idea - wrong tool! You need the proper Briggs puller whch screws into holes in the flywheel hub. If you persist with your puller, you will damage the starter ring gear.

You could use the 'lever under the rim and hit the crank' method - it works for me - but with the larger engines I would have to say 'at your own risk'.
