vauxhall corsa over revving?

my corsa revs high on its own without touching throttle
could this be an engine management problem. the car is a 1999 1.2 16 valve sxi.

Yes my 03 corsa does this . My dealer cleaned out the air pipes and it temporarily solved the prob. However I do only use supermarket fuel. Ill try Esso next time . See if it makes a difference! Did Becky find an answer?

Are you using supermarket petrol? If so try a better brand eg. Texaco, Shell, BP, Total, Esso.
