Vauxhall Zafira 2.0 Diesel no power?

When the engine mamagment light comes on I loose a lot of power on accelaration through gears (sluggish) light stays on for a few seconds and then goes out full power and normal running after that.
I had a service and now everthing is ok, what causes this any ideas ??

My engine goes into emergency operation mode when the engine management light (car with spanner) and the radiatior light come on simulatenously. This is not distance related, nor time related (happens at different places in my journey, and not the same duration after I start the engine), but always when the temperature guage seems to get to "normal". Emergency operation prevents the engine from over revving, and "cycles" the revs up and down, and you get no real acceleration.

I thought the problem was a thermostat (£95 from dealer, £6 on the internet) but they hooked up the diagnostics and tried to sell me a new fuel pump at nearly £3.5k fitted, and didnt guarantee this would fix the problem.

So.. does anyone want to buy an 02 plate Zafira with 107k miles on the clock, "as seen", with leather seats, and sat nav?

Offers on a postcard please!.

Vauxhall are a waste if time. Tried two different garages. Both changed lots of different sensors and found wiring faults....my ars* they did! Car ran fine for a few months then started playing up again. Vauxhall seemed happy to throw sensor after sensor at the car until the warranty ran out. Bag of s.h.1.t. My advise, get it fixed via a garage then sell the F**ker a.s.a.p. and never ever buy a vauxhall again and tell every person you meet in life the same thing. Then maybe someone at the top might pull his/her finger out of there ars* and get these design faults sorted. Three mass air flow meters gone on my car in 12months!!!! I hardly think so!!

Quite often, a faulty air flow meter will cause lack of power in diesels. This part is located in the middle of the large pipe which comes of the back of the air filter box, and goes to the throttle body housing. It is a plastic cylinder about 4-5 inches long with an electrical sensor in it. Your local Dealer should be able to diagnose this fault with a tech test. These parts are quite expensive so get the test done first, just to be sure.
