peugeot 206-broken front seat?

The passenger seat on my Peugeot 206 is not working properly;it is either fully back, or fully forward and does not catch inbetween. Is this something easy to fix or an expensive garage job? Has anyone else had this problem?
Jo, September 2008
I have this problem, I was going to try Mike's fix, but there was a broken piece of white plastic under the seat. It is a tiny piece of the mechanism. So annoying as it has wrecked the whole seat. I can manually get the seat locked back into position, but as soon as the lever is pulled and it releases, it wont lock back and requires a manual reset.

Yet another thanks to Mike 2010!

Kate, July 2021
Ditto Mike the legend August 2010, saved me a lot of time and effort 10 years on, thanks.

Andy, September 2020
Mike you absolute legend! Just spent an hr with spanners trying to fix..found this forum took me 2 seconds!!! Absolute legend!!

Hayley, November 2019
Pff...After months of having this problem too, I finally found this forum. Thank you, Mike (August 2010). I tried before to force it as well but I was afraid I will break it even more, apparently, it worked. Such an easy fix. For the other owners, i'll save you the search for Mike to find the solution. Just force the seat on the back until you say "oh crap" or "s*it" and voila, it's fixed

Vlad, April 2019
my peugeot 206 HDI passenger seat wont go back to its normal position it is stuck forward as if someone is getting out the back, can you help me fix this problem, as I cannot fined any solutions.

David Lovell, October 2017
Mikes soulution (August 2010) worked for me after both seats within days had the problem . Thank you

Adrian Hance, March 2017
Hi Thought I would say a big thanks after reading the different fixes , I have sorted out the problem . did have to give the levers some force . but it worked . thanks

johnny bravo, August 2015
thanks for this, worked a treat, saved me taking the whole seat apart, who knows what kind of satanic mechanism there is inside

neptune, June 2015
Thanks Mike ( August 2010) My passenger seat is fully functioning again!

AS for my drivers seat, I have noticed its only after I adjust it ( or let someone in to the back seat) that I experience the seat shooting back.

I always force myself back in my seat a few times ( Yes I probably look like a maniac doing this...but safety First! )to ensure it's clicked in place so I don't have it clicking out of place while I am driving and it shooting back, and not being able the reach the brake or the accelerator pedals!!

Marie, February 2015
wowwww pushed lever back as far as I could and with very little force was able to push seat upright thank you

susan, December 2014
Thank you - Mike August 2010 - sooo simple my daughter will think me close to a god. I don't need to tell her - she's selling the car...

T42, October 2014
Daughter as same problem on a 2005 206cc...the passenger side seat is too reclined ...and it wont click more upright...its moves in and out so people can get in the back of car but then returns to a too reclined postion...any ideas

dave, September 2014
Had boxes behind my drivers seat as seat would either go right back or right forward x pain to drive , tried what said putting the seat in recline postion and pushing leaver . woo thanks it worked saved me going to a garage xx

box jane, May 2014
Thank you so much! Great help!

Sarah, May 2014
Same problem on our 3 year old 207....seriously dangerous fault!!!
Thanks for the advice on here the one that worked was holding the lever right back hard and slamming the seat back on the rails at the same time....it's French.

Karl |Svensson, January 2014
Me McLean strikes again... Great advice, worked for me! Thank you thank you thank you :)

Pooky, January 2014
john mclean. cheers!!

Ryan, January 2014
thanks again to Mr Mclean , as last post said dont be scared to push really hard !!

Die Hard Fan, October 2013
Thank you John MacLean (Aug 2010) following your advice I was able to fix the reclining seat adjustment problem in my 206 - Lay on it in the fully reclined position and push the levers back with some force. After hearing it click, remain in lying position and push levers forward quickly (repeat if necessary) - this unjammed the mechanism

Denis O, June 2013
Lil pop Mechanism on left side if passengers side on latch mechanism. Can be pushed down to fix movement from seat on bracket.
under seat

leon, April 2013
too be fair I cant say its a common peugeot fault as i was having sex in my car and the seat got stuck in the laying down position, it does move back and forth but will not hold its position unless its fully reclined. i will attempt to pull it apart even harder then i tried before after reading the comments

sex mmannn, April 2013
Just bought a second hand Peugeot 206 Estate. Front seat fixings collapsed on driver's side after less that two weeks. Not impressed. Found myself sitting in a vulnerable position on a dual carriageway as the vehicle was undriveable. I ask myself how it could have passed it's MOT at the dealers!?

Grrr..., April 2013
I had a variant of this problem where the sit would tip forward and back for rear access but the fine adjustment was completely jammed (and slightly too reclined for comfortable driving (perect for taking a snooze in the middle lane, probably). Solved by a variant of Mike Aug 2010. Sat in the seat and leaned back on it. Simultaneously push the levers back. All of a sudden, "twang", I am full reclined but now the mechnism is free to live a rich and full life of proper seat adjustment. Not a huge force required. Just a bit of firm encouragement. Hope this helps!

Andy N, March 2013
The below advice worked for me instantly as i had the above problem on my peugeot 207 59 plate driver car seat. Thank you sooo much Macolaf as it has saved me a lot of money and trouble! :)

this worked for me. In the offside seat runner, at the rear, you will find a small metal block that can slide back and forward in the runner. This is a "tell tale" that should remember where the seat was before it was slid forward and folded. Slide the seat forward and then slide this tell tale forward as far as you can. Then slide the seat baclk to where you want it and I found the seatback would then adjust as normal.

well done keith, just done as you said and it has worked my problem was the spring which sits the back upright had snapped but all i have to do is lift it back to upright, thanks a bunch :-)

richard, February 2013
how did you fix your passenger seat...mine is bent forward onto the seat and wont come back up and is sliding back and forth any ideas

richard, February 2013
Thank you John McLean!!!! His suggestion worked a treat!! Saved me a mint and a lot of hassle trying to sort my seat out!!! I had trouble with my passenger sit only going fully back or forward and not locking into position. Try this first before anything else!!!

Maz, October 2012
how can i fix runner is broken of front passenger seat

parmar, October 2012
Thank you John Maclean! Just fixed my chair. In addition to John's advice I would say don't be afraid to be forceful, I thought I would break the handle but then it clicked! Hooray!!

Nicola P, August 2012
Guess what my seat is broken too. With this level of fault peugeot should definately take some responsibility for this , even if they met their customers half way and just charged for the parts at trade prices. The cheek of trying to make huge profits over a fault that is theirs in the first place is beyond belief.

Keith, July 2012
Right, seat not locking with bar at front. The problem is the pin has been forced out of position by stress on the seat upright, (assuming it's not broken!) as they are interlocked. Answer, whichever seat it is, move it forward (back upright in normal position). Gently pull the top of the horizontal plastic trim at the base of the door side of the seat away from the seat towards the door (just half an inch or so). You can then poke a screwdriver onto the mechanism and release the pin. It will jump into position. Just done it and smiles all round. poor design though...

Dave Rob, February 2012
i found the best solution was........

TO SELL THE CAR!

puegeot seller, January 2012
to rich brilliant tip i just tried it on my missus car worked a treat thanks

den, December 2011
Thankyou John MacLean, your fix worked a treat :)

Rich, November 2011
similar to what others have experienced, only the passenger seat on our 2005 206cc would not position properly. by tilting the seat all the way back then pushing the lever forward was able to get it to work.

on another point re seats has anyone repaired tears in the seat sides? do those side panels just unclip?

jas, August 2011
just take the broken position selector out of the runner and throw it away the seat will work fine without it but you will have to lift leaver at front of seat to get in the back

phil, August 2011
I have a driver's seat available for sale in a good condition BUYER COLLECT. Peugeot 206 blue in color. Please let me know if your interested, phone number: 07805444286.

Ad, July 2011
similar problem! A while back the small metal gizmo that sits in the runner and I assume tells the seat where to stop as per its last position broke into pieces! The seat therefore slides back and forth now and wont lock!. I have held it in place with a nut for time being but it wont pass MOT!
Does anyone know if that slider is essential to the seat or is just for 'memory' so it goes to where it last was? I cant afford to get it fixed!!!

kristian jones, July 2011
Thanx to Mike & J.McLean Aug 2010......Their fix works on my wife's 206CC..So well worth a try....Well done

MCG, July 2011
I can't give an answer but the back of my passenger seat is locked face down and the seat cannot be used. I have done less that 6000 kilometres (I live in France) my car is just out of warranty and I have been quoted 840 Euros for a new part and Peugeot don't take any responsibility. I am thinking of having the seat taken out and only having a 3 seater car.......

preyno, June 2011
thanks not impressed
September 2010
worked for me

Front passenger seat was only going into the lay back position or full forward, push the handle for tilting right back, then force the back of the seat forward you will hear it clicking just do this untill you get it to the position you require. It worked for me and saved us a small fortune. Hope this helps.

stacey, May 2011
Just had this problem with a 206GTI front passenger seat(sliding backwards and forwards). The little latch mechanism operated by the cable from the side levers is flawed in design! If you remove the seat from the car and then remove the runners (5 bolts) this allows you to unhook the cable from the latch. Move the levers on the latch until it clicks into the released position (tap them with a big screwdriver and/or lever them until it clicks). When this latch jams, it stops the seat locks from engaging properly. The side levers still work fine for the backrest position but you now have to reach down to the bar underneath the front of the seat to actually move the seat position. Replace the runners and the seat and away you go. I am going to do the same with the drivers seat because this problem can be dangerous. Hope this helps, Jeff.

2nd hand car seat available for sale, Peaugeot 206, quicksilver BLUE DRIVER's seat NO airbag is available for sale, BUT ONLY for people around Warwickshire area. So please make sure that you can pick it up your self. My contact details are: 07805444286 Thank you.

Ad, May 2011
I too had the same problem so rather than buy a second hand seat I repared mine by taking the seat out of the car, removed plastic side pieces and disconnecting the cable from the sliding runner to the back part of the seat, this allowed the seat to slide back and forward by lifting the bar under the front of the seat independantly. After removing the plastic levers both sides,I then drilled a 6 mm hole through and put a nut and bolt in ( the metal was quite hard though and make sure you drill berween the spots of weld around 5 oclock compared to a clock face) to fix the back of the seat in a permanant position. Take car that you choose the angle you want the back of the seat to be as onced drilled and bolted it will be fix permantly , but you can still slide the seat back and forward for excess to the back seats.
Hope that helps

Once again John Maclean's method has saved the day!

Barry, April 2011
i tried John MacLean's (aug 10) method and it worked a treat. Also saved me a lot of money.

It's amazing what a 12in spanner can do!!

HELP, i have a 307cc and the middle rachet has just stopped working, with the seay stuck in a slightly forward position ???????

Kelly Jones, March 2011
I have the exact problem on my 206 CC. The passenger seat will not lock into position, so when braking hard the seat slides forward or backwards whilst I'm driving. Seems like a small part that has broken off. I agree that Peugeot need to get their act together before someone is killed.

Dilys, February 2011
Hi, i'm having one of the same problems with my 206! when i bought the car the passengers seat would not tilt forward so the passengers could get into the back...now the drivers seat is doing the same thing!! :'''( anyone know how i fix this? thanks ^__^

Becci, February 2011
Have a similar problem. Passengers seat goes down but doesn't slide to front when you want to enter into rear of car. So i have to pull the seat manually by pressing the bar under the seat. Had all the levers broken as well and i had also problems with electric locks, changed them twice. Never ever will buy a peugeot in my life again!!! Too cheap!!

Elton, February 2011
i have a 206cc and have the same problem with passenger seat not clicking into place and drivers seat moving back with breaking surely with this amount of owners with the same problems peugeot should definatly do a recall has this defect has been going on for too long.mine is a 2003 model and now i learn thast the newer cars have the same problem shame on you peugeot this has gone on for too long there needs to be a petition or something what about watchdog.

HOW TO FIX THE RUNNER

1. under the passenger seat on the runner closest to the door (left side) there is a silver 'nipple' infront and behind taht are 2 hook mechanisms, they close in on the nipple and secure the seat, if your seat is sliding back and forth, all you need to do is carefully but forcefully push down on the front hook with your thumb, keep all fingers away as this is a spring loaded mechanism and could hurt if not chop off a pinky or 2. when the front hook is pressed down some witch-craft happens and the back hook engages also, after this has happened you a free to move the seat as it was designed (

Ryan dawson, January 2011
john macleans answer worked for me great many thanks for sharing

Traffwll, December 2010
See comment from "Mike" in August 2010 below. After months of trying everything this has just worked for me. Just in time for its MOT in a week! Nice one.

Chris, October 2010
Got a spanish car here, had to replace the runner mechanism. Was only a 2 hour job and not that expensive but still broke. 206cc. Now the rear quartelight window has a broken plastic connector inside and I need a whole new mechanism. 190 euros. The plastic connector would cost 5 euros max but you have to buy the whole lot, motor included.

not impressed, September 2010
Front passenger seat was only going into the lay back position or full forward, push the handle for tilting right back, then force the back of the seat forward you will hear it clicking just do this untill you get it to the position you require. It worked for me and saved us a small fortune. Hope this helps.

French crap!!!!!!!!!!

John MacLean, August 2010
Right lay on seat in the fully reclined postion and push the levers back with a bit of force . You should hear it click then whilst still lying on it push levers forward quickly this worked for me try a few times if doesn't work as the mechanism is jammed and it needs to be un jammed force helps some times !!! £650 for a new seat my arse!!! Annoying problem granted hope this helps !!

Mike, August 2010

I googled my seat problem to see if anyone had had a similar experience - it appears just about everyone who owns this car!!
Cheap and nasty seats, but moreover, highly dangerous, as they could cause a serious accident - the seat slipped back whilst my wife was driving. Perhaps following the death of a family, Peugeot would be 'forced' to do something about it (as they are nt going to do anything voluntarily, where are the H&S 'jobs worths' on this one?). A recall is in order, or at the very least; a warning posted to owners with a suggested fix - i am not seeking to have it done for free (although i think this should be the case) i just fear for my family being in an unsafe vehicle!! I am now trying to sell the car as i wont let my family near it - but i feel obligated to advise would be buyers of the 'serious' problem (unlike peugeot i have a conscience). Finally, my dealer just quoted the 'out of warranty' gumph and then wanted to rip me off for a ridiculously expensive new part (with the same probb?) - needless to say i will never buy another peugeot!

Mike, August 2010
This week my son pushed the front passenger seat forward on our 2005 2 door 206 sport, seat will not go back up. I have tried to repair but cannot. I have just been quoted £655+vat for a replacement seat and runners. I will try again tonight to repair but after reading the comments I am not holding out much hope.

jason, August 2010
i have 05 peugeut 206, always had problem with passenger seat now doesn't move forwards or backwards. Had it 'fixed' under warranty but made the problem far worse by the time got round to doing something about it was out of warranty and peugeut didn't want to know. Driver seat suddenly shoots back is really dangerous now have back seats folded down to keep drivers seat in place - will never buy peugeot again!

Shelly, July 2010
Have a 52 plate 206cc and the drivers seat back is locked in an upright position. Seat moves forward to get passengers in and adjusts for distance ok but the back will not adjust. A friend had the seat out but still couldn't budge it. Have looked fior quotes on the internet for a used seat. But reading these comments it obviously is a design fault with Peugeot. Anyone else had the same problem as me?

Alan M., July 2010
I bought my car second hand from a garage. I had the car 2 hours and the passenger seat went. Although i can stil put the seat down and up i cant move the chair forward when i put the chair down unless i pull the bar up at the front of the seat. I want to know if the mechanism will break even more so i should get the dealership to fix it or leave it if the mechanism is already broken???

Sammie, July 2010
bad news for peugeot i have the same problem, peugeot need to fix this , at some time all sea runner not , who can affort to pay £650. just for seat runner. i couldn't find any to fix my car ....

ali, June 2010
i have a 206cc 2004 model and yes the passenger seat wont re set in the correct driving position was looking for a repair but reading the comments will have to find a scrap yard to. This is very poor design thay should be recalled

ron lake, June 2010
I have just had the same thing happen to me, my friend pulled the seat back and it just stopped in a laid back postion. If I'm being honest I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier as the mechanism is crap and everyone who puts the seat back always ends up crunching it.

My friends a mechanic and says the springs have gone in the mechanism and that is why the seat will not raise to a normal position. He says there's 3 choices, new seat £680.00 plus fitting, a new mechanism but apparently it's a nightmare to fit or a second hand seat off ebay or a breakers yard. Cheapest option is a second hand seat, plenty out there and all you need to do is unscrew four bolts, take the seat out, put the new seat in, screw four bolts back in and you're good to go.

Safety note, if you push the seat forward to let someone in the back make sure whoever then sits in the front pushes the seat back until they hear a 'click', otherwise the seat will slide around and it's not good on an emergency stop.

Fraser, May 2010
I have this problem with my 206 too. The passenger seat will not lock into an upright position at all and every time someone sits in it they have to near on lay down whilst im driving!
My friend has had the seat out to look at it but nothin is missin or out of place, its a mystery! I will not be buyin a new seat howeva or buyin a peugeot again! Good luck to you all with the same problem x

Clarky, May 2010
Had same with 206cc sport front passenger seat with no lock in any upright position. Dealers quoted £600= for new frame which then required recovering and fixing. Weakness reported to Peugenot head office, but as it was outside the warranty that is as far as that course of action went-although £250 off a new car was offered. What a sense of humour they have!! It is a wekness in my opinion, and I resolved it by going to PCR recyclers at Blackburn, Lancs. who could not have been more helpful.Got a recycled one which they covered with the fabric from broke seat. Charge £70. Will post out but I was able to collect. Get on this solution as the alternative is megabucks in expense.

Leighther, May 2010
I have a set of 206 runners for the drivers side, bought a full seat for my 206 but part-ex it before i could fit it.
i also have the rest of the seat if that is of any use to anyone.

Email: ben8400 at hotmail.co.uk

Ben, May 2010
Same problem.....have recently bought a second hand peugeot 206 fever 2004. I was driving the other day when my seat suddenly shot back and I was unable to reach the pedals. Luckily I was on a quiet road, and was able to stop and put the seat forward again. If this was a busy road, or even worse a motorway, I would have most likely killed myself and others. Am not impressed

Jess, April 2010
I had this problem yesterday, the backrest of the seat was either fully forward or fully back,it would not catch in between. The problem is,i was not using the correct method for adjusting the back rest.If you pull either of the handles at the side forward the backrest will go forward or back, but if you push the handles back(towards rear)the backrest will lock in place.Simples.

mobear, April 2010
There should definitely be a recall. The drivers seat locks into position but it can jump out whenever it feels like it. This has happened 3 times in a month to my wife, unfortunately she can't reach the pedals and she nearly crashed tonight! She won't be driving the car until it is fixed. If Peugeot know about his problem they should do a recall!

I will certainly never buy a Peugeot again!

A very dissatisfied 206 owner., April 2010
i have had this problem with the drivers seat, what i had to do was take the seat out, which was easy done, though i dont think this is necessary. i then pushed the seat all the way forward then all the way back and it worked again. not sure how? the problem with my seat was that the backrest wouldnt lock into place.

martin, March 2010
i had a similar problem, after being quoted a ridiculous price for a new seat from peugeot i spent £15 at a local scrap dealer and after 15 minutes of work woth a Torx screwdriver i had a replacement seat fitted.

chunkymunky, March 2010
so there is no resolution except new seat?

nn-person, February 2010
I have the very same problem, my passengers seat is horizontal and my drivers seat is sliding everywhere!

seems its gonna be very expensive to fix and a major fault in this range how i wish i knew that b4 buying the dam thing

rachel, February 2010
Seems like this is a problem. Surely Peugeot should recall the cars for this potentially life threatening problem. Toyota had the decency to recall all their models to fix the braking problem. Why don't other manufacturers take the responsibility?

NeilzWheelz, February 2010
I bought my Peugeot 206 new in 2005 and my seat broke within months, the mechanism broke and caused me to shoot back whilst I was driving on the motorway and it was only luck that stopped me and my family getting killed. I went back to the dealership and they had to fit a new seat (at that point it was still under warranty). After a while the new seat had the same problem and the passenger seat has also started to do it. Are Peugeot waiting for someone to be killed before they admit the problem and correct it?

Ann, February 2010
My 206 is also doing this.
I put the seat forward one day to get somehting out from the backand now it will not go back to its up right position, have oyu managed to fix this problem?

Spanner, January 2010
Front and passenger seats are broken, 53 plate with only 40K on the clock and i've been told its going to cost £400 for 2 new runners, the tiny part that has broken is not an available part! Bearing in mind with the scrappage scheme in place my car has gone from being worth £5k last year to £2k this year, typical!!!! It seems to me that Peugoet are producing poor quality cars and parts .......absolute tossers

bigtrouble, January 2010
my drivers seat backrest is constantly all the way forward cant believe it literally bought my 206 8 oclock this evening was messin bout with my mate showing her how far the seats go back and when i went to bring it back up it nearly knocked me out i now have a cloth tied to the rear seatbelt and the drivers side headrest just so that i could get home. Im so p*ss*d off its untrue :(

gemma, January 2010
Hi, I have the exact problem on my 206 CC. The passenger seat will not lock into position, the runner looks likes its broken off and is just moving along with the seat. So when brakng hard the seat slides forward or backwards whilst im driving. Seems like a small part that has broken off so cannot understand why i should purchase i whole new seat.

Gemma S, December 2009
hi i have the same problem, have been to the peugeot garage, not very helpful just told me i needed a new frame seat straight away, so off i went to see my cousin the mechanic. Tried his best to fix it, unfortunately i need a new seat, am trying to get one from the brakers yard, good luck to you, jen

jen, November 2009
Same here with my daughter's passenger seat. The seat won't click into place on the runners or sit back in seating position. The ratch device that runs along and clicks into the runner teeth is just floating about. I have a Honours degree in law and would like every one with the same problem (not drivers seats please unless exactly same problem) to email me at Hello Mobiles UK and I will make my self busy on this matter. You will find us on google. Make subject title of email "206 seat problem". Stuart

Stuart T., November 2009
Although I'm looking for a solution, just for fun I'll say that I have exactly the same problem with the passenger seat of my 206.

It surprises me how many people have the same problem.

The solution, a mechanic told me, is to get a used seat (as a new one would cost an arm and a leg).

Good luck

Mallouk, September 2009
This has happened to my seat too! Clearly a long-term problem with Peugeots!!! Just taken it to the garage to see what they say!

sara, August 2009
The seat wont pull forward with the lever, so no one can actually get into the back from the passengers side of the car? is there a wire inside or a clip, and is there a way of taking the side of the seat off?
Hellpppppppp!!

Tom, August 2009
My driver seat runners on my 206 have broken. The seat won't lock into place and obviuosly failed MOT for this. I have to tilt my seat upwards for it to not slide back when I'm driving. I have two friends with Peugeot 206's and both the car seats are faulty too.

Valerie, June 2009
I purchased my 206CC a year ago which still had 8 months of warranty left. In February 2009 the passenger seat moved forward when I had to break quite hard - not very safe had someone been sat in the seat at the time. I took my car to the peugeot dealer who advised I needed new runners and it was repaired under warranty.
Thursday last week, I had to break quite hard and the passenger seat short forward so fast my bag which was on the seat was catapulted in the footwell. The seat runners failed 3 months after it had been replaced. To add insult to injury, whilst driving to work friday morning my drivers seat failed as I was breaking, luckily I was breaking gently so the seat movement was not too fast. I pulled over and tried to lock the seat into position, but it completely failed and would not lock in to place at all. My car was unsafe and undriveable!

I called out my local peugeot garage, they clamped the seat in place and took it in for repair. I need new runners. It will cost £360 + VAT for the repair for one seat.

They are expecting me to pay for the repair of the passenger seat which was only repaired 3 months ago as any warranty repairs are only covered for the length of the warranty.

My case is currently with customer care as I feel angry that seat runners should fail in a car which is only just 3 yrs old.

I am trying to gather information from other Peugeot 206 owners who have had this problem. I intend to take this issue to trading standards and possibly watchdog.

Dissapointed 206CC owner, June 2009
I have the same problem, the passengers seat is broken, when someone sits on it they end up laying back. The seat wont even go forward.

The passenger seat on my Peugeot 206 is not working properly;it is either fully back, or fully forward and does not catch inbetween. Is this something easy

Bryn, April 2009
The front passengers seat does not seem to be catching in the verious positions. I took my car into peugeot dealers advised me that I would have to replace the whol seat £750.00 this is crazy.

I have a 5 year old 206 3door with this problem, the passenger seat has been unable to tilt & slide forward for some time but now the drivers seat has the same problem. What seems to be at fault is a small device located in the seat runner which relocates the seat in its original position after you perform the tilt & slide operation. If you slide the seat fully forward you can see the device in the seat runner channel, it's about 20mm long, has a plastic base with a spring operated aluminium lever which pivots in the centre. On both of my seats this lever has broken off, so the seat will not locate in position properly and jams when you're trying to move it forward or backwards.
I've been to my Peugeot dealer and I've emailed photos to Peugeot UK but this locating device is not available as a seperate part you have to buy the seat runners at a cost of £155.00 per seat which is scandalous when the part in question probably costs pennies to produce.

my passenger seat has snapped and wont click in. my cousin had the same prob with her drivers seat and she brought a new seat from a scrape yard and got it fitted by a mechanic. not cheap but peugeot wont help.

Not a too dissimilar problem with my 206 here!
The back rest on passenger seat only seems to have 2 positions and the driver's seat is also a bit temperimental.

I had a broken drivers seat. The bolts which hold the action in place just broke when I had to brake quickly, throwing me backward and away from the brake pedal. It was lucky this did not cause an accident. The car had only done 19,000 miles. Peugeot refused to help as did the dealership on the grounds it had ran out of warranty, yet this is a safety feature and bolts do NOT just break! A new seat costs around £680.00, plus fitting plus vat so it is bl**dy expensive. Peugeot have a lot of seat problems, infact a lot of problems full stop and they just do not want to know. This is dangerous and someone could be killed. The bolts which hold the seat in place just broke, yet they are supposed to be designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle and too withstand impact. Obviously a defect which peugeot will not accept. I believe one cannot mend the frame as the seat will not work properly. One has to buy a new frame with welded bolts in place and transfer the padding cover and airbag. Sorry it is not any help, but I feel the more folk shout about problems, maybe peugeot will do something about it. Another point to take on board, Peugoet state the 206 has in excess of 30,000 componants and they cannot guarantee each part 100 per cent. Errrr if this is the case, then they should honour those parts which break, especailly if they are connected to safety or render the car undriveable. They advertise it as 'The drive of your life'...Ummmm Should or could be..The last drive of your life. In short will I buy Peugeot again NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!!!!!

mine is broken 2 its head worka can any1 help me with this pls...??

I have this problem from time to time with our 206cc. I find that after "jiggling" all the adjustments for a while it eventually works properly. Frustrating but I've never found out why it does it. If after persevering you still cannot get it to work then maybe something is broken but so far, ours has always worked....... eventually!
