Can I replace and reset my printer sensor?

I have an Epson Sylus Photo RX420 All-in-One Printer which was saying it had no paper in it. A local comapany tried to reset the sensor but ended up saying it was faulty and not worth repairing. Is it possible to get a new sensor and how do you 'reset' it?
Help! I love my printer and everything else is working fine.

If you know where the sensor is, try using a can of compressed air to blow out any debris in the opto electronic switch.
