citroen xsara picasso 1.8l 16v petrol 2001?

bought car from trader recently and found car to be burning (no external leaks) lots of engine oil aprox 1 ltr per 500 miles with this i noticed a bit of blue smoke in exhaust gasses any ideas greatfully recieved
