Act quick the longer you delay the further out of warranty it goes.
First thing you MUST do without delay get back to the service centre and explain what you've found. Explain the camera was working ok until the power button went and that's why you sent it in for repair. Explain politely that they may, as you say, accidently disconnected the sound, will you carry out sound restoration whatever the cause under warranty agreement as it's only just run out. If no joy phone canon. You could email them i've given you the option by details how to get to the websubmit form
www.canon.co.uk at top of home page click on 'Support' then below picture of the female click on 'Consumer product support site'
select 'websubmit' on the far left column of selections wait for the form to come on screen then fill in details requested then the why it was sent in the first place and what you discovered on its return and that the service centre are not interested in restoring the sound under warranty so it seemed pointless sending it to a recomended service centre with it to be returned with another fault ie: sound.
