my vauxhall keeps cutting out when stationary any ideas why that might be ?

my vauxhall keeps cutting out when stationary i,ve noticed it idling at only 500 revs any idea what might be wrong please

More likely to be the idle control valve or the EGR valve. Telling someone to keep his foot on the accelerator isn't helping to cure or identify the problem.

The exhaust is letting oil in the carbuettor or fuel pump so its letting the car cut out. The car will soon sort itself out. Just put your foot on the accelrator so the revs are about 950-1000.
