Bobbin trouble?

I recently bought a wonderful Singer Touch and Sew Special Zig-Zag Sewing Machine Model 626. It came complete in a cabinet with drawers and all of the parts, including book, oil, everything. It only cost me 30 dollars.
I am having trouble with the bobbin. It seems that the needle won't pick up the bobbin thread. Can I be doing something incorrectly or do you think that it is not working correctly?
Please help me as I am ready to sew blankets for my new grandchild.
Thank you in advance. I worked to fix it for 2 days now. Actually feel like pulling my hair out. lol.

Sincerely
Dilana

Hello Dilana,
If you have put a new needle in and made sure it is the correct way round and it is not picking up the thread then the chances are you need to retime the machine, not a really massive feat, if you e-mail me I will attach full instructions.
