how to change belt on flymo 330?

how to change belt on flymo 330

I assume this model to be the same or similar to the Flymo 300.
1. First disconnect the power lead from the mains and the mower.
2. Turn the mower upside down and remove the blade and fan unit using the large plastic spanner provided (the one used to adjust the blade height) Both items simply lift off once the bolt is removed.
3. You should be able to see the belt wheel surrounded by a series of cross head screws. Remove all of these plus the other two screws on the bottom of the mower (check your mower is clean as these can be covered in grass making it hard to find them - they are along the center line towards the motor.
4. Put the mover right way up again and remove the two screws from the motor housing. The motor housing should lift off by rotating towards the front. CAUTION THIS MAY BE VERY HOT IF THE MOWER HAS BEEN IN USE IN THE PREVIOUS HOUR.
5. Remove the blue and brown wires from the motor (these are spade connections and simply slip off/on)
6. The whole motor, belt and pulley wheel should come free from the mower - if not then you've probably missed a screw or two on the bottom so turn the mover over again and double check)
7. Fit the old or new belt by locating the grooves in the small wheel of the motor first. Then slip one side onto the big wheel and turn the wheel to pull the rest of the belt on (like you did on your cycle chain as a kid)
8. Refit the motor and pulley assembly back into the mower is the reverse process and straight forward as all screws are the same size (good bit of design!)
9. Reconnect the motor wires and the motor cover (remember where you took them from but it should still work if you get it wrong)
10. If your not 100% sure on electrics get a qualified electrician to check it's safe (more disclaimers on the main site)
11. You mower should be back in one piece now - if it isn't recheck the above steps
12. Re-start your mower as per the instruction manual and happy mowing

If the belt keeps slipping off the belt may be worn or the bearings worn on either the motor of the fan - check by wiggling either of these when you've taken the mower to bits again!
