auto gearbox ?

hi i,m colin i have a ford galaxy ghia 1996 2litre petrol with auto box when cold it seems to go into a no drive situation when i stop then when i go off again it seems to be a delay before it goes in to drive again i am presuming the drive fluid needs topped up in hand book it says ford will do it on service want to chack myself can u tell me where dipstick is for fluid level and topping up thanks for your time

Hi there is no dip stick.
On the front of the gearbox just above the sump you will see a little tube with a red cap on it,this is where the oil goes in.
The 5mm drain plug on the sump isnt actually a drain plug it,s a level plug.
To check the oil level the engine should be running in park on a flat level surface,remove the plug and if the oil level is correct you should have a slow trickle of oil coming out,if you dont its low on oil.
Top up with oil until you do have a slow trickle of oil coming out.
