Mountfield 35 Classic petrol lawn mower won't idle?
I've been given a Mountfield classic 35 lawn mower and at first it took a couple of attempts to start it and then it would run, but now it'll start run for about 3 seconds then cut out. I'm no expert on lawn mowers and need help.
Hi this is the Briggs & Stratton sprint engine by the sounds of it. Remove fuel tank assembly, then unbolt and remove body of carburettor from top of petrol tank. Clean tank and stalks on bottom of carb. Replace rubber diaphram and gasket between carb and tank. rebuild and it will be fine.

OK - first - there's no 'choke handle'! There may be a 'dead man's handle' that has to be held for the engine to run, and possibly a throttle control. This engine will either have a primer to start, or an auto-choke inside the carb.
Does yours have a primer? Let me know and I'll assist further.

Forgot to add, no user manual, just the mower itself. The only parts that i'm familiar with are, petrol tank, spark plug, the choke handle (but don't know which way to push it) and the start pully.
