Can I repair my lawnmower?

Hi
My Mountfield Petrol Mower struggles to start. I think i have narrowed it down to the Primer Button as when i press it no petrol seems to be drawn into the carb despite the tank being full. I have tipped the mower almost on it's side which gets it started but soon cuts out and won't start again, unless I tip again. There are no holes in the Primer Button itself. Is this going to be something i can fix myself? Any ideas please?
Regards, Sue

Hi Phil
The lawnmower is used 'fairly' regularly (fortnightly) so not really stood for such long periods to warrant it 'breaking', I wouldn't have thought.
Thanks v.much for your response.

Yes, you can replace the primer yourself. Is it the 'classic' type (carburettor on the tank), or 'Quantum' type (separate tank, and primer on the front?

However, if it's the classic type, it's more likely to be a diaphragm that you need. Also a DIY job.

Has the mower stood unused for any length of time?
