Changing belt on AEG Lavatherm 57700 plus lost contact?

I've got a new drive belt from AEG and have it around the drum. Can anyone tell me how to get it on to the motor spindle and which way around it goes relative to the freewheeling tensioning wheel?

Also, in the course of reassembling the back panel I lost the small rectangular contact that is a spring fit into a bracket screwed onto the back panel and making a sprung contact into the groove on the back of the drum. I'm guessing it's some kind of earthing contact. Anyone know what this is, whether a replacement is obtainable and what will happen if I try to run the machine without it?

Thanks.

And by the way, the belt is really cheap from www.espares.co.uk. I got one for £5.99 + £1.95 postage. My tumble dryer is back up and running.
By the way - thanks to ck for the tips. I was about to try and get at the drum from the front! It's a doddle if you ease the back away at the top.

i have taken sides of, the back cover, but how do i get the belt round the drum?

All now fixed - the belt just needed to go once round the tensioning pulley rather than resting against it.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for that. I've put the belt on as suggested but it seemed quite loose - reassembled and though the belt is turning slowly it doesn't turn the drum. Other than AEG having supplied a belt which is too long, could there be another problem?

remove the rear fan cover and remove the rear fan blade to get belt on.sensor bit on the back is to sense auto dry settings.will not work without it as it will throw an error code.cross section view of belt install from back panel looking at machine from left to right would be belt, motor shaft, belt, tensioner wheel.hope this makes sense to you
