Renault Laguna II 2001-Drivers window mechanism -broken cable ?

The cable which lifts and lowers the window has broken. The mechanism is OK so I think that replacing the cable would be an option. Back in 2007 I asked if anyone knew how to fix a squeeky window on this car. A very helpful person - Daryl, answered in May 2008 with a detailed description of how to remove the door panel. He mentioned in the same note that he was fixing a broken cable in the drivers door. Daryl, I have used your advice to remove the door panel with great success, I would like to know how to removed the window mechanism and how you replace the cable around the motor drive and through the window channels. Can you or anyone help? If so I would be most greatful. (A new mechanism plus garage fitting is more than £250 Ouch!!)

I bought a Renault Laguna replacement window actuator which is what you require from Ebay for £55 including post and took about an hour to fit. Once you have the panel off remove the glass by removing the 2 plastic spring retainers and pulling the glass off the pins and lifting it out of the car door. once you have removed the glass and stowed it safely it makes it a lot easier and you dont have to worry about breaking the glass. There are four Bolts holding the sliders in place remover these and then you can lift out the actuator. Once you have the actuator out remove the motor by removing the 3 bolts that attach it to the actuator. Reassemble and refitt, adjust it when in position to make sure it works ok. All the instructions come with it.

Stephen,
Thanks for the information. I've now done a search on Ebay and can't find the guy who does the replacement. Can you give me an E-mail address or 'phone number for him?
Thanks,
