How can I replace the belt on theCraftsman bEAGER-1, 6.75HP, 22"?

I have replaced the cable which engages the transmisssion, but I noticed the belt is loose. It does not appear to be damaged, but when the engine is on, the belt does not turn. Perhaps the belt needs to be tighten, but I can not determine how to accomplish this task. I have already removed the blade but I cannot determine how to remove the housing that protects the belt. Please Help

without a model # I can't look at any diagrams to give you an exact answer. If my memory serves me, the moser has a plastic housing ontop of the deck which is help don by a few screws. If you take this off, it gives you access to the belt and pulley. Under the deck I thought it just had a pulley above the blade whish the belt hooks onto. When you put it in gear (start the drive mode) the belt will be tightened. Look for adjustments in the plastic housing ontop of the deck. If you send me the model and serial number I will see what I can dig up. I have two at the house and will look at them tonight, weather permitting. cholbach@yahoo.com
