fuel leak in carburetor?

I have an old suffolk punch 35s with a dellorto carb

When I release the fuel valve on the tank, as soon as the float chamber is full, fuel flows straight out of the top of the carburetor from a tiny machined hole next to the throttle spindle. It only started doing this the other day, having never done it before. Any ideas would be gratefully recieved.

thanks for the reply, cant find any traces of dirt anywhere. however i now know that the fuel is coming out of a breaher hole that is connected to the top of the float bowl to let air in/out. i think its the float valve thats the problem. it works when you push it with finger, however the float is full of liquid. should it be like this, or empty.
thanks

most probable is dirt in the float valve.remove float bowl and blow clear.check float, float's and rebuild.20 mins tops.
