How much will it cost to fix my 53 reg renault megane?

I have a 53 reg renault megane with two cards, when you put card in slot and push start button, it keeps saying card not detected, it does this with both cards.
Can you tell me if it is the card reader that i need to replace or the actual key? And how much approx it will cost?

There is a guy on Ebay that repairs these keys for £23 each...Ive just sent mine off to him, he has really good feeback too...worth a try to save some money! just type "renault key repair" in the search.

your going to need to replace the key card that is not recognised. approx £70 for a new card and half an hours labour at your local renault dealer to recode.
