whats the matter with my peogeot hdi 2l 2001?

please could anybody help, I have a high pitched noise coming from my engine and it gets louder the faster I go.

Sounds like it could be the turbo, normal for these engines, although if its just suddenly started doing it, best to get it checked out in case its something else.
