Hotpoint WD71 swallowing socks = sock stuck in outlet = error = wet floor?

Occasionaly, my Hotpoint WD71 swallows a childs sock. The sock ends up lodged in the black concertina rubber bit of the outlet pipe, and you have to take the whole back off the machine, loosen the pipe, spill litres of water all over the floor to free the guilty sock. Very very annoying! Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks,
James

put childrens socks inside an adult sock or a pair of tights
this will stop them slipping between the seal n drum and causing probs.
