my hedge trimmer won't start-TMC Model PHT35K?

I have spark and had no fuel. Found leak in fuel pick up tube in gas tank and glued it-may replace it. Now it has fuel and spark but only pops every once in awhile. I will try points and condenser next. I fully cleaned and reassembled carb and all looks good. Not sure how to set idle mix and high speed mix screws. I will also add new spark plug and maybe plug wire though spark seems O.K. now. Any ideas would be most appreciated as my ace repair guy just retired. It has always been fussy but this time it's got me baffled.

I also have tmc pth-35k hedge trimmer and had problem with adjustment screws after setting for very long time,I replaced somefuel lines. found the center screw had to be all the way closed.the screw on right, low idle screw was set to 1/2 turn open or just enought to get smooth and left screw was about 2 turns open but I set it at full speed to get most rpm out of it. hope this helps. Do you hav eany oweners manuals that I could get copies of? thanks Roy

Pleasant or anybody,
The hedge trimmer is made by TAS which I guess is now TMC (Tas Motor Company) and it uses a Kawasaki 22.6 cc engine. I have the older model with points (a TAS model PHT 35) and also an engine from a newer model with electronic ignition. They are pretty much identical, both with the same TK type slide carbs. To reset the mixture screws where should I start? Some say set both low and high speed at 1 1/2 turns and go from there. Does that sound about right or do they tend to be set more closed for proper operation?

Sorry- can't help. Been in the trade over 10 years and never come across points and condensor on a hedge cutter, so waaaaaay before my time.

Pleasant:
Mine is an old model PHT 35 from Japan and does have points and condenser. What are the correct carb mixture screw settings? I have no manual or anyclue where they should be. Any idea where to start with setting them (idle mix and high speed mix?)?
I do have spark but wonder if a bad condenser could be causing my troubles.

It hasn't got points or a condensor. You will need to reset the mixture screws back to the initial factory set-up before it stands a chance of starting, and once it is basically set-up you will need to finely tune the mixture screws to suit optimum performance 1/8th of a turn at a time.
