i need to know how to get rid of the smell of rotten meat and food in a refridgerator and deep freezer. ive tried all the normal cleaning supplies.and nothing has helped. i had to evecuate from hurricane rita and i dont have the money to replace both appliances. ive tried clorox, charcoal, lysol, pine sol, etc i need help desperatly i have 5 children and i need to be able to store food again.

sodium hypochlorite (Bleach). You will need to find a thick concentrated bleach in liquid form. Wet a cloth and soak the cloth in this bleach (wear rubber gloves) then coat the inside of the fridge. Close the door and leave for 24 hours. This will kill all remaining bacteria which is causing the smell. The bleach has to get into all the nooks and crannies so you may need to dilute it slightly to get it well and truly into all the corners. After 24 hours all the remaining bacteria should have been killed off and then all you have to do is make a solution of bleach and soapy water and wash the inside of the fridge out. Dry then rinse until only a faint odour of bleach remains.NOTE- concentrated bleach will burn naked skin and the vapour and cause lung problems.
