I have a Craftsman Brushwacker 26.2 cc, model 234.795341 won't start, why?

I purchased a used Craftsman Brushwacker which had a brittle, worn fuel line. I ordered, received and installed a replacement fuel filter in the gas tank and plastic fuel line, but it seems no fuel flows to the carberator, and it won't start. There is a connection where the body of the weedwacker opens, and I didn't replace the line inside the "engine" half because of the difficulty of attaching to the carberator. The line looks OK there. Does the fuel flow by gravity? Is there an air bubble? Or maybe the fuel line might be "kinked?" Help!!

I have a different size--larger--and the filter after the cut off valve was clogged(cleaned). cleaned all holes and ports w/carb cleaner-runs like new. local repair shop had fuel line-mine needed replacement also

Look for the obvious first, a kink in the line. If no fuel is leaking when you are attempting to start it you can assume that the other line is o.k. If there is no primer bulb then move on tho the carb. The fuel is pulled to the carb by the diaphram inside the carb. It is relatively easy to replace it. There are four screws on each side of the carb. Start on one side and remove the four screws. Remove the gaskets, there will either be one or two. Match it to the replacement and install. Do the same thing on the other side. That sould solve your problem. Quick correction, I looked at the diagram and one side of the carb appears to be held on by one screw and not four. I found the parts you need by going to www.sears.com clicking on parts and then typing in your model #. You are looking at around $20.00 for the diaphrams and gaskets. You can also view a parts diagram so you can see exactly what you are looking at. Good luck
